           A Transparent Look at the Business, the Chaos, and the Heart Behind It
          &#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I got into massage therapy in a pretty peculiar way.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Most massage therapists have some beautifully inspiring story like:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “I just wanted to help people feel better,”
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           or
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “I worked in healthcare and wanted something more holistic.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Mine was… less poetic.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I had very little exposure to wellness growing up outside of one family member who happened to be a massage therapist. I had seen them a handful of times in high school after an injury, but honestly, between completing a BA in Theatre Performance with a minor in Dance, teaching dance, waitressing, and working bank jobs, massage therapy was nowhere near my radar.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Until I needed a career change.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           So I called that family member and asked two very important questions:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Do you actually like what you do?”
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Yes.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Can you pay your bills doing it?”
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Yes.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And with that incredibly scientific career-planning strategy, I enrolled in massage school.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For the next year, I endured what I considered a grueling program — not because of the time spent in class, but because of the sheer amount of completely new information I was learning all at once. Anatomy, physiology, pathology, techniques, contraindications, body mechanics… my brain felt like mashed potatoes most days.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In 2015, I graduated from Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy and started what would become one of the most chaotic, rewarding, exhausting, and fulfilling adventures of my life.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The Early Years: Controlled Chaos
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Like most small business owners, I floated around a bit in the beginning.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I worked inside a chiropractic office for my first two years while slowly building clientele and trying to understand how on earth anyone runs a business without spontaneously combusting from stress.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Eventually I opened in Wexford, then worked my way down the coast of McKnight Road before settling into our current office in McCandless.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Those first 7 years were hectic.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I was building websites, answering calls and texts, managing booking systems, creating forms, trying to understand marketing, teaching dance, and giving massages whenever my body could physically handle it.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I genuinely felt like I barely slept.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           At the time, my business and teaching dance were basically my entire life. Every spare minute went into trying to make this thing work. (I was often choreographing dances during massage breaks-time management and multi-tasking being what it is…)
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            And honestly?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Groupon helped tremendously back then.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Most of the regular clients still on my schedule today originally found me through Groupon during those early years. Back then, it helped small businesses get visibility. Ten years later… after running the numbers for a decade… let’s just say my relationship with Groupon has evolved.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           From “Deep Tissue Therapist” to “Whatever Actually Helps”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Early in my career, I established myself as a deep tissue therapist.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           To this day, I still consider myself one — but my definition of effective work has changed dramatically over the years. It does for most professionals.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Back then, I thought intensity automatically meant effectiveness.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Now, after years of experience and continuing education, I’ve learned that some of the gentlest modalities can create massive change in the body.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           So these days, one session may feel like what I lovingly refer to as “my version of a deep Swedish massage,” while the next month I’m cranking on your scapular attachments like there’s hidden treasure buried under your shoulder blade.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (Somehow, some of my clients still sleep through this.)
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Over the years I’ve incorporated cupping therapy, hot stones, hot towels, stretching, movement work, and a variety of techniques depending on what each person actually needs that day.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I try to provide as much “ahhhhh” as humanly possible because once you walk back out into the real world, silence and stillness are hard to come by.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Building a Business by Trial and Error
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Between 2017 and 2025, Inner Roots went through approximately 7,000 versions of:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Ooo maybe we should add this.”
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Followed shortly by:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Never mind, absolutely not.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That’s honestly just part of being a growing business owner.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Sometimes you try things because you genuinely think they’ll help people.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Sometimes you try things because the industry tells you you’re supposed to.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Sometimes things work beautifully.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Sometimes they flop immediately.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The only way to know if something fits your business is to try it and see if it sticks.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Over time though, Inner Roots slowly evolved into something really unique.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And I say that carefully because I know there are many wonderful massage practices out there. But what we’ve created here feels different in a way that’s difficult to fully explain unless you’ve experienced it.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           If you’ve been with us long enough to survive multiple waiting room furniture rearranges, you already know:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           we do things a little differently.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           When I first graduated, my only goal was survival. I just wanted enough people walking through the door to pay my bills.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Then unfortunately for me, I went and actually fell in love with what I do.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And then somehow I ended up surrounding myself with other people who also genuinely love what they do.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That changes everything.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The Reality of Massage Therapy
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Massage therapy is not lazy work.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           People sometimes picture soft music and relaxing rooms and assume we spend all day peacefully rubbing lotion on people while floating through eucalyptus-scented air like woodland fairies.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Absolutely not.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This job is physically demanding, mentally demanding, emotionally demanding, and requires constant attention. We are continuously assessing pressure, muscle tone, movement patterns, breathing, nervous system responses, positioning, comfort levels, and communication all at once.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            We are on our toes constantly. Our hands are constantly receiving feedback.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There were absolutely moments where I went home thinking:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Well… that was not my best performance.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There were years the business struggled.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Thank you, COVID.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There were years where it flourished.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           But every low point I hit as a business owner, I somehow knew I would figure a way out. I didn’t always know how — I just knew I would.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And truthfully, the backbone of this business has always been our clients and the professional connections we've made.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I genuinely believe we have one of the best client communities on the planet. These people supported me through stressful seasons, difficult years, growing pains, schedule changes, room changes, policy changes, and life changes.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Without them, none of this exists.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;h2&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What Inner Roots Has Become
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/h2&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Now, years later, Inner Roots has grown into a team of independent contractors with different specialties, personalities, and modalities.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And somehow, it all came together organically.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           No corporate strategy.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           No “mastermind business blueprint.”
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Just good people finding each other at the right time.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Success for our business happens quietly and gradually.

           With how chaotic the world feels lately, I just want our little nook on Cumberland Road to be a quiet space where people can simply exist, breathe, and feel cared for for a little while.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Sometimes your massage session may feel more like a therapy appointment than a bodywork session.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That’s okay too.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           When your doctor, physical therapist, chiropractor, friend, or family member suggested massage, they probably had a pretty great reason for it. Maybe you’re dealing with chronic pain, stress, headaches, injuries, or maybe you simply haven’t relaxed your shoulders since 2017.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           For some people, that’s no big deal. I’m talking about the clients who are so comfortable they’re halfway out of their hoodie before we’ve even left the room.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           For many others though, that idea alone becomes a very real obstacle — and honestly, an understandable one.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Not everyone feels comfortable in a bathing suit, so the idea of being almost fully undressed under a sheet with someone you’ve never met before can sound somewhere between awkward and absolutely insane.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Believe it or not, your massage therapist understands that, regardless of how they personally feel about nudity themselves. We know that for many first-time clients, the anxiety has very little to do with the massage itself and everything to do with vulnerability, uncertainty, and not knowing what to expect.

           Before your appointment even begins, there’s a good chance you’ll receive intake paperwork if you booked online. This usually includes health history forms, consent forms, office policies, and cancellation information.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We know forms aren’t exactly the glamorous part of self-care, but they’re incredibly important.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           A lot of people assume massage is harmless no matter what’s going on medically. In many cases it’s very safe, but certain conditions, medications, injuries, surgeries, or symptoms can absolutely change how — or even if — massage should be performed.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That new herniated disc, unexplained swelling in your ankle, recent surgery, blood thinner medication, or possible blood clot? Those are things your therapist genuinely needs to know.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Not to scare you — truly. Most situations simply require adjustments, precautions, or a conversation. But safety is part of professionalism, and a good therapist should be assessing whether massage is appropriate for you that day.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           That’s also why we encourage clients to complete forms as early as possible. The last thing any licensed therapist wants is to discover something important five minutes before your session starts and have to either heavily modify your treatment or turn you away for safety reasons.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           In many independently owned practices, your therapist is:

           Some of these questions can feel oddly specific.

           Because your daily habits matter more than most people realize.
          &#xD;

           The positions you spend hours in every day can contribute to repetitive strain patterns, chronic tension, headaches, nerve irritation, postural imbalances, and movement compensations over time. Sometimes the thing you think is completely unrelated ends up being one of the biggest contributors to your discomfort.

           We may also ask questions about medications, recent injuries, surgeries, stress levels, diagnoses, or whether certain conditions are currently “under control.” These aren’t judgment questions — they help us determine what techniques, pressure levels, positions, or modalities are safe and appropriate for your body that day.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            And yes,
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           old injuries still matter.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           That ankle sprain from high school soccer, the car accident from ten years ago, the shoulder you “slept weird on once” — your body remembers more than you think it does.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Massage therapists are not permitted to diagnose medical conditions. That falls outside our professional scope of practice. However, we are trained to assess movement patterns, tension patterns, compensation habits, and muscular dysfunction, and experienced therapists often notice connections clients never realized existed.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           That’s why therapists so often hear:

           ask why we’re asking in the first place.

           The more informed and comfortable you feel, the better your body tends to respond during treatment.

            Relaxation and trust genuinely affect how muscles respond to therapeutic work.

           Now for the part everyone quietly worries about:

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           Your therapist should walk you through the plan for the session before leaving the room to allow you to get comfortable. Most professional therapists will clearly explain that private areas remain covered at all times during the massage.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is also the time to speak up about preferences.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

            You can ask to avoid oil on your face if you’re prone to breakouts.

            You can mention that your feet are painfully ticklish.
           &#xD;

            You can request lighter pressure.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            You can ask to avoid certain areas entirely.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            You can even say, “I’d prefer not to have skin-to-skin work on my glutes.”
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And yes — your glutes absolutely contain important muscles that contribute to hip pain, back pain, posture, and movement patterns. But there are also many techniques that can be performed fully clothed, over the sheet, or with modified draping if that makes you more comfortable.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           A professional therapist should never make you feel embarrassed for asking questions or setting boundaries.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You may hear different instructions depending on the therapist or business. Some therapists say:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Undress to your comfort level.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Others may say:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “You may remove everything.”
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Some practices require underwear to stay on. Others leave the choice up to the client. Therapists also have their own preferences, specialties, and additional safety measures based on training and comfort levels.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           If anything feels unclear or uncomfortable during instructions, ask questions.
          &#xD;

           Once you’re on the table and fully covered, your therapist will usually knock before re-entering the room or ask:

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           If you are lying on the table and covered by the sheet or blanket, that means yes — you’re ready.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Depending on the practice, your massage table may be heated, weighted with blankets, or cushioned with bolsters and pillows to support your body.            You’ll likely have a bolster placed under your knees while lying face-up, or under your ankles while face-down, to help reduce strain on your joints and low back.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           During the Massage

           As the massage begins, your therapist will probably check in about pressure throughout the session. Some therapists use a 1–10 pressure scale, while others rely more on conversational feedback.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Here’s an important thing many people don’t realize:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           “Deep tissue” should not mean suffering.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           If you are gritting your teeth, holding your breath, tearing up, or mentally trying to survive the experience, the pressure is probably too intense.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The old “no pain, no gain” mindset does not work well in massage therapy because once your body starts guarding and fighting back, your muscles stop relaxing. At that point, we lose the ability to effectively work with the tissue.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In therapist terms:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           we’re basically dead in the water.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           That also doesn’t mean effective massage has to be super deep. Some incredibly gentle modalities can create huge changes in pain, mobility, nervous system regulation, and tension patterns without using aggressive pressure at all.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Trust us:
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           you do not want to be beaten to death for 60-90 straight minutes.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And throughout all of this, communication is always allowed.

            If something hurts, tell us.

            If you suddenly realize your wrist has been bothering you too, tell us.

            If your low back starts pinching when you lie a certain way, tell us.

           Massage therapists are trained in draping and positioning techniques designed to expose only the area being worked on while keeping the rest of your body covered and secure.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You may also experience stretching, assisted movement, joint mobilization, or positions that feel surprisingly strange at first.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Massage therapy has evolved tremendously over the years, and the variety of techniques, specialties, and treatment styles available now is enormous. If one therapist or modality isn’t your favorite, that does not mean massage itself isn’t for you.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You may absolutely love another therapist’s style, pressure, pacing, or specialty approach.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           And finally:

           yes, you might fall asleep.

           Bodies are human.

           Therapeutic work affects the nervous system.

           And while you may be tempted to continue your accidental massage nap for another 45 minutes, we encourage you to wake yourself up slowly.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Take a few deep breaths.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Sit up gradually.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           Give your body a second to recalibrate before standing.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           And please — for the love of Pete — do not launch yourself off the massage table like you’re being called onto a 1998 high school swing dance floor.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           At this point, your therapist may ask how you feel, discuss areas of tension they noticed, recommend stretches or things to avoid over the next day or two, and possibly suggest when to come back based on your goals.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           It’s completely normal to feel different things after massage, and whatever you feel is valid feedback for your therapist.

           Some people feel deeply relaxed and sleep like a rock that night.

            The Reality of Being a Solo Therapist

           Being a solo therapist comes with unique challenges that aren't always addressed in traditional networking or business groups. The emotional toll of supporting others, the burden of running a business alone, and the struggle to maintain work-life balance can feel overwhelming. I know this firsthand because I’ve been there. For eight years, I navigated moments of doubt—juggling administrative tasks, client care, and personal responsibilities while wondering how I could possibly keep up. The truth is, many therapists feel isolated in their work, even though we spend our days deeply connected to others.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           My Journey: From Struggle to Stability
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           I graduated from Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy in October 2015. After bouncing between my uncle’s practice and a chiropractor’s office, I eventually settled in Wexford, taking over an existing therapist’s clientele and space while she had her second baby. I ran a Groupon promotion, and in less than a year, my schedule was packed.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           I never consistently marketed myself. I didn’t offer free massages at gyms, I didn’t plaster my business cards everywhere, and I certainly didn’t join any free or paid networking groups. I simply rented a space and went with it. My connections came from random opportunities, my decision-making was mostly based on common sense, and my financial management… well, let’s just say I made my fair share of mistakes—but I'm still here and thriving.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           At the same time, I was dealing with personal challenges while trying to improve my health. It took eight years, but I finally reached a place where I had the space, time, energy, and financial stability to grow. I’ve taken everything I learned—the successes, the failures, the lessons—and applied it to create a career and life that make me happy.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           Now, I want to share that knowledge with you, learn with you as I grow, and help you grow. I want to help you avoid some of the challenges I faced, spark new ideas for your own practice, and create a space where we can celebrate even the smallest wins together. And, perhaps most importantly, I want us all to be prepared for whatever comes next (because I never thought I’d have to plan for a global shutdown.)

            Sure, you can hire a business coach, but what I’ve witnessed (and personally experienced) is that many lack empathy for the realities of solo practice. I tried business coaching for three years, and while some ideas seemed brilliant, they quickly became too expensive and time-consuming to maintain—especially while keeping services affordable for you guys.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
           I wanted something different. The industry needed something different. A space where therapists could connect on a deeper level, share experiences, and support one another through both professional and personal challenges. This call was born out of that need—a community designed for those who understand what it means to be both a business owner and a healer.

            Our soul. It's a very powerful influencer on the rest of our body and mind. If it is in crisis, or malnourished, we are in deep trouble. You've felt it, I know you have.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Let me tell you a story. A young lady I know has a very successful career as a CEO of a major national corporation. She was approved to work remote, travels frequently with all expenses paid, earns a great salary, and has no troubling relationships with friends or family. She expressed to me one day that there was something missing and in her words, "It's weird. I'm incredibly happy, and proud of where I am in life, but I feel a void, and I have not the slightest freaking clue where the void is." Grrrr... frustrating right? After some conversation, and a little introspective digging, she realized that she was just blowing by her surroundings and not really practicing the art of doing something by herself, that has seemingly no long term purpose.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Let's direct that a bit more: no long term purpose. Honestly, I get it. We are trained from little on up "if you work hard at school and get good grades you will have a good job" or maybe "if you play a sport, and practice hard you'll get a scholarship to a great university". It has been engrained in use that our choices affect our future, and for the most part this is true. For example, you may start working at a different company where the salary is higher, because you want to retire with security. No problem with that of course, but what if instead of thinking that far into the future, you start that same job because you ENJOY performing those tasks? Hmm? What if kids simply played sports to just ENJOY the sport, with no future plans at all? Interesting point of view on that, don't you think.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            This young lady had realized that everything she chose had some long term purpose or outcome, and nothing, NOTHING she did was for "short term gratification" or what I like to call, enjoying the present just because. She was missing out on all the little things- smelling flowers, enjoying the sunshine, watching a dog run around in the yard- that though the joy provided may seem short lived, it nourishes your soul little by little.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The challenge here is how can we incorporate more of those little things in our lives, to nourish our soul little by little, instead of crashing headfirst into shutdown mode or worse, numb. Let's start off by channeling our inner child yes? Here are a couple things you can do by yourself, and I'm even going to give you several options incase one doesn't suit your fancy.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ol&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Plant something small: Find a pot. Find a small plant. Throw in some dirt. Do it with INTENTION, and enjoy doing it. Then stick it somewhere you go every day- office, home, outside- and when you see it, just admire its beauty, its ability to grow, the colors of the leaves, how each leaf or flower pops out. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             Go digging in the dirt: If you have a shovel, great! If you don't, I always fancied my mom's good (and
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      
           expensive) kitchen utensils for digging. Tear something out- weeds, that old rusty post, that bush that you've hated trimming since day one. Really get your hands in the dirt, and feel it. Watch it fall through your fingertips. Make mud out of it and play with that in your hands. You'd be amazed at how much of a release you get when tearing something up. Bonus: whatever it is that your tearing up, associate it with any singular thing you want to remove from your life, and when you throw it out, really let it go with intention.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
          
             If you really are doubting your green thumb, how about just sitting outside somewhere nice? A park, your front porch, backyard, in a pool or hot tub? While you are sitting there, actually enjoy it. Don't think about anything else. This is also a great time to practice our 5 Senses exercise when you sense your mind wandering. Enjoy the sun, or even the beauty of the overcasting clouds. For that time, sit in quiet, and enjoy everything around you. Challenge yourself to see the beauty in something you didn't notice, or even something you've always thought was ugly.
            &#xD;
        &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ol&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Try one of those three things. Do it once per week. If you're starting to add up the plants you might have you can opt to take care of a small quantity, and use that time to intentionally water and care for it, instead of drowning it with a water can. Be present in the moment, and enjoy it.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Do things that make you truly happy, that seemingly have no long term purpose, simply because you enjoy doing them.
            &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           The last time you received upsetting news, what did you do? Did your brain go a million miles an hour thinking 'What did I do to get here?" or maybe "How the heck am I going to fix this?" followed by most likely a whole train of thoughts until something happens and suddenly you are saying "okay... let's get back to emptying the dishwasher". 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           We call that "removal from the present" and while brainstorming is not a bad thing, it will not help us in this moment. Our body LOVES going into panic mode, and then starts processing the what-if's and how-to's faster than we can say "What the *$%#**&amp;amp;?!?!"
